Modec : Jamie Borwick

Who is Modec?

Founded in 2004, Modec is made up of Jamie Borwick and his core team of automotive engineering experts. Together, this team have an exceptional pool of automotive experience, from launching the iconic TX1 London Taxi to introducing LEAN manufacturing techniques to Bentley. The team has now grown to over 70 highly skilled members, giving Modec an unrivalled knowledge base.

How does Modec perform?

  • Range = 100 miles or 60 miles depending on battery choice
  • Speed = 50 mph
  • Payload = 2 tonnes

… all on a single overnight charge

How does it work?

  • Modec is powered purely by electricity
  • The battery takes approximately 8 hours to charge
  • A standard 3 phase electricity supply is needed. Renewable energy sourced electricity is strongly recommended to ensure absolutely zero emissions.

What standard models are available?

  • Chassis cab
  • Drop-side
  • Box van

Are special bodies available?

  • Refrigerated box van
  • Tail lifts
  • Tipper

Revolutionary Design

Unlike any other electric vehicle, Modec began with a battery and the vehicle was built around it. This makes Modec ‘future proof’ and is the key to Modec’s iconic and striking design.

This approach was taken instead of adapting an existing vehicle, which forces several compromises.

Why has no-one else done this?

Money & People: Set up costs are significant, as is the need for a highly skilled and motivated team. Existing automotive manufacturers would need to divert money & people from already profitable business practices – it takes a newcomer to revolutionise the industry!
