Modec Makes its East Coast Debut at the Work Truck Show in Atlanta

Modec, the UK-based manufacturer of the world’s first zero emission light commercial vehicles, will be making its east coast debut at the Work Truck Show in Atlanta from 26th to 28th of February.

During the show, Modec will be displaying one vehicle in box van configuration, which will be providing ride and drive demonstrations at the entrance to the show. Modec representatives will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the benefits of these vehicles.

Since June 2007, Modec have carried out a thorough US market research program and officially launched the vehicle at EVS 23 in December 2007 where the ride and drive vehicle was in constant use. High profile trails are ongoing and interest in the striking purpose-designed vehicle has been extremely positive, especially from fleet operators who want to demonstrate their green credentials.

Modec began production at its purpose-built factory in March 2007. Within 8 months of the factory opening over 100 vehicles had rolled off the new production line. 2008 production volumes will rise to 750 vehicles and the UK plant is designed to reach 5,000 units per annum.

Demand has been particularly strong and sales continue to increase rapidly. Modec vehicles are already a common sight on UK roads, with customers including Tesco and Amey and Accord MP, working on behalf of Transport for London (TFL).

Lord Borwick, Modec Chairman, said: “Modec is an exciting breakthrough in automotive engineering. With our outstanding heritage in purpose built urban vehicles we were able to design the vehicle from the ground up according to the customers’ wish list.”

Modec vehicles will be on display at the show from 26th to 28th February.
