Multipart signs contract with Modec Ltd

Multipart Supply Chain Solutions, the supply chain management partner has agreed Heads of Terms with Modec Limited.

Modec, based in Coventry, harness modern battery technology to deliver a range of commercial vehicles that are perfect for use in city environments. With a range of 100+ miles and a 50mph top speed, Modec vans deliver performance and economy comparable to diesel equivalents, but without the noise, smell or pollution.

This exciting partnership covers a comprehensive range of logistics services incorporating inventory management, demand forecasting, specialist storage and handling including inbound to Modec’s assembly plant in Coventry, distribution, customer service and reverse logistics.

Modec will also be implementing the Multipart Electronic Parts Catalogue, eMPART, which offers a simple, quick and accurate web based method of parts identification and order placement. Accuracy of parts information is vital and the eMPART application allows Modec to identify the unique parts associated with their particular vehicle builds using either the VIN reference or the registration number as a search facility.

eMPART will improve the efficiency of Modec's supply chain through improved parts identification, leading in turn to fewer stock returns and a more accurate stock profile derived from cleaner demand patterns.

Jevon Thorpe, Modec’s CEO said: “This partnership will enable Modec to offer class leading technical support to our customers from day one, including technical manuals, customer support hotline and parts supply, all backed up by Multipart’s national distribution network and support centres.”

Modec will be launching its new range of high performance zero emission electric vehicles at the Commercial Vehicle Show, 25-27 April 2006 at the NEC. The range to include chassis cab, van and pick-ups, with a bus following later in the year.

Deven Thakrar said: “We are delighted to be working with Modec as its partner to service the UK aftermarket and are keen to build on this relationship. Our aim is to strengthen and support Modec using our expertise and supply chain management skills.”

Modec’s eMercury demonstrator was GreenFleet Winner 2005 and WhatVan? Eco Van of the Year 2004.
